From my earliest memory, my one desire was to be an actor. I was encouraged by my parents however, to be practical. So, when it came time to enroll in college, I declared business as my major. Being horrible at math though, and not doing well in my first economics class, I realized that business was not the career for me. I changed my major to communications. My parents didn't complain and it was an area that was at least close to what I loved. In the meanwhile, I took theater classes as electives.
I graduated with a degree in communications but wanted to find a way to get into acting. I attended a workshop on commercials and it gave me a very brief introduction into the business. It also gave me a starting point for learning about the tools of the trade, acting classes, headshots and agents. It took a minute or two to get my bearings and learn how the business works. Gradually I began to get work. Encouraged by having people in the industry tell me that I had a great look, I started to land commercials. In my very first one, I had one line to deliver. I was placed in a chair with stabilizers on both sides of my face, on top of my head and beneath my chin, told not to move left or right or up or down but to be natural. I quickly learned that acting was not as easy as it appeared.
Over the years I have worked in various areas of the business. I have done print work, I have appeared on stage and worked at theaters such as The Goodman, ETA and The Illinois Theatre Center. I have done voice over work and appeared in films and corporate industrials. I have been told that I take direction well. I believe that it is the actor's job to give the director and or client what they want and on each and every booking that is my goal.
